In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we as the Clubs, Societies, and Learning Community Leaders of RCSI stand united in opposition to all forms of sexual and gender-based violence.

As students and future healthcare professionals, we reject behaviours and attitudes that enable harm or silence those affected by sexual or gender-based violence. We stand in solidarity with her and with all survivors.

Every individual deserves respect, compassion, safety, and must be met with support when they come forward. Stigma and persecution of survivors, especially by those in authority, are unacceptable. As a collective, we commit to promoting a culture of consent and respect, encouraging open dialogue, supporting survivor-centred initiatives, and challenging harmful behaviours within our community.

As future healthcare practitioners, we aim to turn awareness into meaningful action. We encourage students at higher education institutions (HEIs) to complete the National Survey of Student Experiences of Sexual Violence and Harassment in Irish HEIs conducted by the Higher Education Authority. All responses are strictly confidential and anonymous.

Together, we will continue towards creating and promoting a safer and more accountable environment for all.
